He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Varela and Frank Varela Sr.; his brother Ralph Varela; his godson Brian Varela; and his nephews, Bert Varela, Norman Varela and Ivan Varela.
He is survived by: his wife Theresa Varela; his children, Maury Varela, Warren Varela (Bernadette), Amanda (John Keehart) and Reneé Varela; his grandchildren, Celia, Ashley, Matthew (Candice), Gabrielle, Rosendo, Ariana and Bryanna (Alan); his great grandchildren, Jaxon, Camden and Brynley; and his godchildren, Monica Lujan, Alberta Bernal and Allen Archuleta. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
