He was predeceased by: his parents, David Schaffer and Luetta Schaffer (Lake); and his stepson James Michaels Deeds. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Schaffer (Dawson); his sons, Chris Schaffer of Kansas, Shawn Schaffer of Kansas, Jeff Schaffer (Kathy) of Wichita, KS and Joel Schaffer (Lisa) of Wichita, KS; his stepchildren, Michael Horner (Evelyn) of San Diego, CA and Michele Udell of Hurley, NM; and his siblings, Carl Lee Schaffer (Arletta) of Phoenix, AZ, John David Schaffer (Mary) of Phoenix, AZ, Lester Schaffer (Mabe) of Houston, TX and Diana Terry (Dan) of Kingwood, TX. He is also survived by his six grandchildren and his two great-grandchildren.
