He was predeceased by: his parents, Brown Thornton and Annie Lou Thornton (Hill); and his brothers, John Brown Thornton and Thomas Dewayne Thornton. He is survived by: his wife Marcia Ann Thornton (McNutt); his sons, Donald Ray Thornton, Jr. and Ronald Dewayne Thornton; his grandchildren, Christina Jane Thornton and James Ethan Thornton; and his siblings, Dorothy Lee, Annie Blanche, Leona Jean, Mary Ann, Kathy Ann, James Harold and Truman. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
