He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Jackson and Mary Ann Shorter (Green); his son Eddy; and his siblings, Margie Stevenson, Elizabeth Reid, Haskell, Henson, Earl and Ross.

He is survived by: his daughter Sherry (Dave Dunlap) of Lovington; his daughter-in-law Ginger Shorter of Lovington; and his sons, Mike (Renee) of San Angelo and Billy (Jerri) of Lovington. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
