He was predeceased by: his parents, Sylvester Sr. Sims and Geneva Sims (Clark); his wife Helen Sims; his children, Clifford Sims and Stephanie Sims; and his siblings, Thelma Jackson, Emma Jean Haskins, Bobbie Coe and Henry Sims.
He is survived by: his daughter Sylvia Greathouse (Timmie); his siblings, Walter Simes (Mildred), Mildred Stovall and Carrie Martin (Arthur); his grandsons, Timothy, Brock (Gina) and Caleb (Allison); and his great grandchildren, Kailyn, Kylee, Amaya and Melody.
