He was predeceased by: his parents, John Elwood Smith and Jetina Stephens Smith (Tina); and his nephew Sonny Meil. He is survived by: his wife Sammie Kay Smith of Lovington; his daughters, Kimberli Nickell (Tracy) of Albuquerque, NM and Twyla Smith (Misty) of Plano, TX; his sisters, Kay Leeson (G. B.) of Tatum, NM and Judy Chunn (Troy) of Lovington, NM; and his grandsons, Jeremy and Trent. He is also survived by numerous nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews.
