He was predeceased by: his parents, Maclovio Valdez and Manuela Valdez; and his sister Maria Elena Valdez. He is survived by: his wife Consuelo Valdez; his children, Miguel Valdez (Adriana), Laura (Jesus Fuentes), Patricia Valdez, Erica (Rogelio Castillo) and Ira Valdez (Carlos Castillo); and his siblings, Geronimo Valdez (Bertha), Oscar Valdez (Betty) and Guadalupe Rodriguez. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
