Charlene K. Heavington Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charlene K. Heavington of Lovington, New Mexico, born in Athens, Texas, who passed away on January 1, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband C. L. Heavington; her sons, Eldon and Randy Heavington; her mothers, Doc Kuykendall and Alta Kuykendall (Douglas); her great grandchild Caelyn Searcy; and her siblings, Wanda McCaslin, Charlie Kuykendall, Mattie Herod, David Kuykendall and Ricky Kuykendall.
She is survived by: her children, Kerry Heavington of Lovington and Laura; her son-in-law Leslie Sooter of Lovington; her siblings, Robert Kuykendall and Patsy Kennemur; and her grandchildren, Kerry Guinn Heavington (Kyna), Tiffani Sandoval (David), Hilary Palmer (Charles), Jeremy Searcy (Diane) and Justin Searcy (Jennifer). She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 5th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Kirby-Ratliff Funeral Home (1106 N Main St, Lovington, NM 88260). A funeral service was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Jackson Ave. Baptist Church (837 W Jackson Ave, Lovington, NM 88260).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to breast cancer research and awareness.
