He was predeceased by: his parents, Steven Kovacs and Winifred Kovacs; and his sister Mary Gallagher (Farrell). He is survived by: his sisters, Annie Fromtling (Robert) of Westfield, NJ, Kitty Kovacs of Seattle, WA, Patricia Kovacs (David Jeffords) of Columbus, OH and Betsy Blackford (Tim) of Des Moines, IA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mission San Juan Diego.
