He was predeceased by: his parents, Merrill "Jake" Beckstead and Vera Beckstead; and his sisters, Leone Chipman, Diane Berntsen and Cheryl Ford.
He is survived by: his wife Lorene Smith; his children, Lyn Greenwood (Virgil), Benjamin (Carrie), Jennifer Langford (Sherman), Michael (Annie) and Eric (Sarah); his siblings, Merrill (Nannette) and Judy Billeter Dunford; and his brother-in-law Clyde Ford. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren.
