Eloisa Flores Obituary
Eloisa Carrion Flores, 79, a resident of Lordsburg, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Gila Regional Medical Center. She was born July 6, 1932 in Lordsburg to Santos Mesa and Margarita (Garcia) Carrion. Eloisa also known as "Okie or Luchie" by all her friends was a very dedicated mother to her children and also to others in need. She loved sports, including football, baseball and coaching. She was a coach/player for "Las Indias" women's softball team for many years. She loved any football team that played against the Dallas Cowboys.
Sorry cowboy fans. Her favorite baseball team was the Chicago Cubs and she actually got to personally meet her favorite player, Sammy Sosa. She was a true diehard Maverick fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching her kids/grandkids play sports. Eloisa worked many years for the city of Lordsburg in various positions including laborer, meter reader; but was known by all as the "Mesquito Lady". Some of her fondest memories by her children include: picnicking at the "Sierra" on weekends to pick "pinion", play volleyball, softball and come home sunburned.
She enjoyed spending time with all her family and friends and outdoors working on her yard. Even though she was unable to walk she could always be seen in her power chair down Main Street to visit her daughter Elvia at nursing home with Ernest McComb in tow. Eloisa's request was that we not shed tears for her, but that we throw a party and celebrate her life here with us because as she always said, "I'll be celebrating with Jesus in Heaven". She is survived by five sons, Lawrence Flores and wife Debra of Tucson, AZ; Tomas Flores of Lordsburg; Davey Flores and wife Corrine of Lordsburg; Francisco Flores of Phoenix, AZ; Paul Flores of Lordsburg; two daughters, Josephina F. Corrales and husband Roman of Portales, NM; Elvia C. Flores of Lordsburg; one brothers, Louie Rodriguez and wife Lupita of Riverside, CA; one sister, Dora Garcia of Redlands, CA; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
