He is survived by: his children, Alberta Ellis, Jason Ellis (Stephanie) and Brian Ellis (Nanise); his sister Elanna Ellis Jackson (Richard); and his daughter Marlene Ellis Cowans. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two nieces, and five nephews.
