He was predeceased by: his parents, Emilia Portillo and Francisco Portillo; and his siblings, Lena Saiz, Anita Castillo (Annie), Magdalena Soliz (Neno), Juanita Alvarez (Cookie), Jimmy and Johnny.
He is survived by: his daughters, Barbara Annette Ortiz (Delbert) of Las Cruces and Carol Portillo (Tracey O'Donnell) of Taylor, Texas; his grandchildren, Gabe Ortiz (Sadie Winkles) of Cedar Rapids, Matthew Ortiz (Jaci) of Springlake, Rebekah Regalado (Fernando) of Las Cruces, Diego and Gabriella O'Donnell of Taylor, Texas; his great grandchildren, Eden, Mateo, Luis Ortiz, Jax Leonard, Daniel, Mia and Santiago Regalado; and his sisters, Tarcila Pena of Alamogordo, Cora Trujillo of Albuquerque and Teresa Garcia of Silver City. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
