He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Juan Bernal and Enriqueta Chavira of Bernal; his brother Jorge; and his brothers-in-law, Angel Quinones Jr. and Jim Stefanski.
He is survived by: his son George Bernal (Andrea); his wife Stella Quinones Bernal; his siblings, Carrie Stefanski and John Bernal Serrano (Cecelia); his children, Gilbert Bernal Jr. (Kathleen), Lori Cordova (John Williams) and Diana Cordova Elliott (Brad Elliott); and his stepchildren, Ismael Torres (Lori), Efren Torres and Samantha Linney (Danny) of Albuquerque. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, six sisters-in-laws and two brothers-in-laws and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 5:30 PM at the Perches LaPaz Funeral Home (555 W Amador Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88005). A rosary will be held on Thursday, January 9th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Basilica of San Albino (2280 Calle Principal, Mesilla, NM 88046). A burial will be held on Friday, January 10th 2025 at the Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery.
