He was predeceased by: his parents, George and Ida Upshaw-Jordan; his former wife Laura Maxine Upshaw (Williams); and his children, Debbie and Gregory.

He is survived by: his wife Alice of Cincinnati, OH; his children, Rene and Frederick Jr. (Jodi) of Las Cruces; his grandchildren, Carter and Avery; and also Jackie of Indianapolis, IN. He is also survived by several step-children, step-grandchildren and several cousins.

“To Fred Jr. And family. I’m crushed to lose my friend Fred. He was more than a golf friend but a mentor with a wealth of knowledge. I befriended Fred in 1999 at Ft Bliss and we stayed in contact all these years. We played in Orlando while he lived in El Paso and fished when he moved to Orlando. I posted a pic of my friend doing one of his favorite things: golfing and laughing. Rest in paradise “ Steady Freddy” now you and Sam Wallace play on until we join you later.”
