He was predeceased by: his parents, Melchor Chavez and Margarita Chavez; his brother Pilar (Adolfo Chavez); his grandmother Barbara Fuentes; his nephews, Michael, Pilar Jr. Chavez and Gilbert Martinez; his brothers-in-law, Joe Martinez, Moses Lujan, Manuel Roman and Ernesto Matta; and his nieces, Anissa Salazar and Daniell Chavez.
He is survived by: his sons, Jacob Chavez and Mark Reyes; and his sisters, Evangelina Lujan, Lourdes Matta, Socorro Martinez, Lorena Chavez and Elva Jaquez. He is also survived by friends, nieces, and nephews.
