He was predeceased by: his father Luther Whitaker; his former wife Terry Whitaker; his mother Jennie May Taylor; and his siblings, James, Joe Whitaker, Bill Mosier and May Duckworth.
He is survived by: his former spouse Terry O'Dell; his wife Sandra Whitaker; his daughters, Nita Montgomery-Clary of Carlsbad, Carla Mathews (Randy) of Winnsboro and Kendra Hale of Andrews; and his stepsons, Buck Wisener (Becky) of Carlsbad and Justin Wisener of Lovington. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews.
