He was predeceased by: his former wife Rena Blankenship Bender; his parents, Phil Bender and Bonnie Troxell Bender; his siblings, Aleta Hanville, Irma Lee Caldwell, Murlin and Mark Bender; and his stepchildren, Richard Scott and Cyndy Crawford.
He is survived by: his wife Janice "Jan" Mason Scott Bender; and his children, Gary Bender (Sheila) of Montgomery, Texas, Rick Bender (Janet) of Midland, Texas, Tracy Bender (Sandra) of San Antonio, Texas, Kelly Bender (Linda) of Fairfax, Virginia and Vicky Miller (Jay) of Lake Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; nine nieces and nephews; and several sisters and brothers-in-law.
