He was predeceased by: his parents, John F. Birmingham and Marwil Birmingham; and his son James. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Birmingham; his children, Ray Jr. (Chris) of Albuquerque, NM, David (Pam) of College Station, TX, Michael (Renay) of Melissa, TX, Scott (Paula) of Melissa, TX, Elizabeth Kelley (Kindell) of Georgetown, TX, Carol Marquez (Ralph) of Hobbs, NM and Leah Redwine of Melissa, TX.; and his brother Charles. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
