With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Maria (Nena) Elena Avila in Hobbs, New Mexico, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 17, 2025 at the age of 74. Though her name may fade from the lips of time, the imprint Maria leaves upon the hearts of her loved ones remains eternally vivid — a testament to the depth of her spirit and the richness of her legacy.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Jesus Fuentes Delgadillo and Elvira Fuentes Marrufo; her husband Jose Carlos Avila (Pepe); and her brother Federico Fuentes. She is survived by: her children, Domingo Avila (Martha), Norma Ruelas, Celia Chavez (Joe) and Cristal Ruiz (Marsial); and her brother Felipe Fuentes Sr.. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren.
