He was predeceased by: his parents, Evelyn Thompson and Randall Thompson; and his siblings, Patsy Jean Thompson Wasson and Charles Randall Thompson. He is survived by: his father-in-law Bill Byrom; his children, Dr. William Leon Thompson (Christine), Mary Joyce Thompson Jones (Russell) and Dr. Robert Randall Thompson (Tracy); his grandchildren, Dr. Jennifer Thompson-Burke (Cedric Burke), Mary Thompson, William Jones, Emma Jones and Erin Thompson; and his nieces and nephews, Beth Wasson McCall, Jean Wasson Garcia, Rance Wasson, Russell Thompson and John David Thompson.
Memorials may be made in Leon Thompson's memory to the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Snyder, Hobbs, NM.
