It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Larry Gene Schmitt of Hobbs, New Mexico, born in Great Bend, Kansas, who passed away on November 16, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Schmitt and Lucy Hain Schmitt; and his siblings, Billy, Tommy Schmitt and Patti.
He is survived by: his wife Jo Gaye Schmitt; his daughter Amy (Jason); his daughter-in-law Zana; his grandchildren, Landon, Abigail, Emalynn, Amanda and Aiden; his brothers, Kenny (Susan) and Marvin (Suzie); his nieces and nephews, Ryan (Christina), Ty (Linda), Serina (Owen) and Colleen; his father-in-law Wayne Doty; and his siblings-in-law, Karen Gore, Kathy Schmitt, David Doty and Donald Doty.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Griffin Funeral Home (401 N Dalmont St, Hobbs, NM 88240). A prayer will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Helena Catholic Church (100 E Bender Blvd, Hobbs, NM 88240).
