He was predeceased by: his daughter Angelica Rios; his parents, Apolonio Rios and Maria Rios; and his stepmother Clautilia. He is survived by: his children, Maria Luisa R. Garcia (Conrado Garcia, Jaime), Ermida McCutchen (Dennis McCutchen, Juan) and Jose Luis Rios. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren.
