He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Phelps and Bessie Phelps; his wife Loriene Phelps; his brother Perry Phelps; and his nephews, Steven and Doug Phelps.
He is survived by: his children, Terry, Katrina, Steven and Doug; and his close friend Gloria Rogers. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great- grandchildren.
