He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Sandel and Sally Sandel; his former wife Nancy; and his niece Stephanie Volkerding. He is survived by: his wife Clair Sandel; his sister Sherry Pigford (Donnie); his children, Jason Sandel (Stacy), Dr. Shelly Sandel (Bill Henry) and Jeff Sandel; his nephew John Volkerding (Chuck); his grandchildren, Stella Sandel, Spencer Henry, Zooey Sandel and Jasper Sandel; his great-nieces, Shylynn Pigford and Jenna Volkerding; his great-nephew Lukas Volkerding; and also, Ransom Cole and Ashley Alden.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 2nd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Farmington's First Presbyterian Church (865 N Dustin Ave, Farmington, NM 87401).
Keeping with Jerry's strong belief in and commitment to the energy industry in the United States; it is Jerry's wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to the San Juan College School of Energy Scholarship Fund or to the Boys and Girls Club of Farmington BBQ Fund such that opportunities can be provided for the underprivileged youth of the community.
