He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Markwardt and Genevieve Markwardt (Frye). He is survived by: his wife Patricia Alencastre; his children, Christopher Markwardt (Sommer) of Fargo, Herbert Markwardt (Jennifer) of Fayetteville, Katherine Barron (Steve) of Elida, Joseph Markwardt of Fargo and Ruth Markwardt of Fort Lupton, Colorado.; and his sisters, Kay Stafslien (late Jim) of Makoti, Mary Markwardt (Larry Pinnow) of Madison and Judy Goldsberry of Bismarck. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
