He is survived by: his wife Karma Lynne Knudsen; his children, James Howard Whelchel (Amy), Jason Loren Allen, Guenevere Lee Williams (Kevin), Amanda Lynne Whelchel and Danielle Lynne Whelchel; his siblings, Bill Lewis Whelchel (Kim), Daniel Lewis Whelchel (Crystal) and Shirley Louise Whelchel; and his grandchildren, Liam Cade VanDerAaKeeffe and Ronan Bennett Whelchel.
