He was predeceased by: his parents, Vivian Chavez and Lillian Chavez; and his sister Vivien Chavez Seals. He is survived by: his daughters, Cassandra Jennings and Tyler Chavez (Scott); his significant other Karen Martin; and his brothers, David Chavez (Sharon), Rudolph Chavez (Gloria) and Michael Chavez (Brenda).
