Mendez; her siblings, Marlene (Mike Anderson) of Aztec, Roberta (Leonard Atencio) of Durango, Sheri (Gene Gurule) of Aztec, Karen (Bob Gomez) of Durango, Colorado and Gary Montoya of Ignacio, Colorado; her grandchildren, Jasmine Chavez and Christopher Naranjo; and her stepgrandchildren, Maria Carrillo, A. J. Carillo, Patrick Chavez, Laura Swessel and Faith Swessel.
