He was predeceased by: his wife Alicia; and his sons, Martin Mendez and Vincent Garcia. He is survived by: his children, Virginia Mendez Griego (Terry Griego), Miguel Mendez, Susana Daniela Mendez, Phillip Garcia (Theresa), Rosa Mendez and Mario Mendez; and his siblings, Gustavo Mendez, Lionel Mendez and Dora Mendez. He is also survived by thirty grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren.
