We are sad to announce that on March 31, 2024, at the age of 71, Melvin Barreras of Clayton, New Mexico, born in Tucumcari, New Mexico passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Barreras and Liilie F. Barreras; his sister Darlene Ortiz-Martinez; his niece Erica D. Barreras; his great-niece Everleigh D. Barreras; his grandparents, Jose and Carlota Gonzalez-Padilla; his stepgrandfather Mathias Padilla; and his grandfathers, Juan and Theodore Barreras.
He is survived by: his siblings, Michael Barreras, David Mark Barreras I (Scarlot) and Carlota Ulibarri (Matthew); his nieces and nephews, Vera Dawn Ortiz, Brandi Ortiz, David "Mark" Barreras II (Kayla) and Domionna Ulibarri (Andrew Dabich); his great-nieces, Sierra, Aubrey and Jasmine Sandoval; his great-nephew Mark Barreras III; his uncle LeoRay Gonzales; his wife Lupe; and his aunts, Gina Escobedo, Helen Gonzales and Frances Barreras-Garcia (Pat).
In lieu of flowers, his family asks that contributions be made to the National Kidney Foundation, Towers to Tunnels Foundation, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
