He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo F. Hengstenberg and Dolores E. Hengstenberg; his half-brother Wayne Hengstenberg; and his brother-in-law Tom Holland. He is survived by: his wife Carol Lynn Zeltmann of Los Alamos; his sisters, Irene Holland and Carol McSmith (Bill); his children, Abigail Hengstenberg and Robert W. Hengstenberg; his grandchildren, Harper Gamble, Mia Jaramillo (Juan) and Layla Tapia; and his in-laws, Ann Zeltmann, Tom Zeltmann (Kay) and Jill Rice (Scott). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
