With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Linda Vermilion of Carrizozo, New Mexico, born in Burlington, Iowa, who passed away on September 3, 2021 at the age of 61. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Lester Roy and Doris Darlene Schilb (Smith); her sister Roxie Brown; and her nephew David White. She is survived by: her former husband Jerome Hammes; her husband David Vermilion of Carrizozo, NM; her children, Matthew Hammes of Princeton, KS, Leslie A Powell of Lawrence, KS, Jonathan Hammes of Alamogordo, NM and Eric Hammes (Brittanie) of Wichita, KS; her grandchildren, Seth, Wyatt, Pressley, Holly, Alec, Heath, Jocelyn, Skylar, Haylee, Mackenzie, Piper and Noah; her stepchildren, DJ Vermilion (Amy) of Nebraska and Jimmy Vermilion of New Mexico; her stepgrandchildren, James, Samantha, Abigail, Elizabeth, Alyshia, Erika, Erick Culley, Janessa and Zaiden Vermilion; her stepgreat-grandchildren, Xander Gallegos and Isaac Culley; and her siblings, Steven Smith (Julie Campbell) of Agency, Jeffrey Schilb and Glenda White. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
