He was predeceased by: his parents, Steve Thompson and Bonnie Thompson (Barnhill); and his grandparents, Camilla McDougal and Charles Thompson. He is survived by: his children, Doug Thompson (Sherry), Joe Thompson (Tina), Tausha Klug (James) and Steve Thompson, Jr.; and his siblings, Mike Thompson (Jerry Lynn), Larry Carrigan (Brenda), Pat Greene and Melinda Hamilton. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
