He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward and Mable Louise Peterson (Jacobson); and his wife Katie Peterson. He is survived by: his former wife Frances K. "Katie" McElwee; his sons, Don Peterson (Denice) of Carlsbad and Steve Peterson (Glenell) of Carlsbad; his grandchildren, Preston Peterson (Sarai), Lynde Longbine (Jeremy), Emily Metcalf (Heath), Eric Peterson (Crina) and Sarah Peterson; his great grandchildren, Edgar Rodriguez, Yesid Peterson, Jack Peterson, Callie Metcalf, Kason Longbine, LanDree Longbine, Hallie Jo Metcalf, Tristie Metcalf and Tressie Metcalf; and his sister Ruth St. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
