He was predeceased by: his parents, Pilar Navarrete Sr. and Paula Munoz Navarrete of Coyame, MX; his wife Hermelinda Vasquez Navarrete; his daughters, Lucy Holguin and Geraldine Navarrete; his stepmother Alicia Navarrete; his brothers, Pilar Navarrete Jr. and David M. Navarrete; his stepbrother Alfredo Armijo; and his great grandchild Caleb Duran.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Navarrete Duran, Richard R. Navarrete (Anna M. Fierro), Raul Navarrete Jr. (Sulema Navarrete), Lorraine N. Arteaga (Lauro H. Arteaga), Lynn A. Chavez (Erik J. Chavez) and Lisa J. Navarrette (Gilbert H. Navarrette Jr.); his sister Elva Hensley; and his siblings-in-law, Leo Vasquez and Hilda Navarrette. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
