It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Oral Conner Nichols Jr. of Carlsbad, New Mexico, who passed away on August 17, 2020, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Oral Nichols Sr. and Sammie McMillen Nichols; his wife Phyllis Schultz; his son Scott Nichols of Carlsbad, NM; and his siblings, Dean Nichols of Farmers Branch, TX, Kenneth Nichols of Carlsbad, NM, Cozette Dunagan of Edmund, OK and Vannie Lou Gregory of Fort Sumner, NM..
He is survived by: his daughters, Susan Long of Boerne, TX and Lynne Saltsman of Clifton, VA; his daughter-in-law Lillie Nichols of Carlsbad, NM; his son Jeff Nichols of Southlake, TX; his grandchildren, Wesley Nichols of Carlsbad, NM, Kevin Long of Boerne, TX, Sage (Ryker Saltsman) and Sarah (Laura Nichols); and his great grandchildren, Reagan Washburn and Randi Nichols of Carlsbad, NM. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Oral's life will be held at a future date due to the present Covid-19 travel restrictions.
