He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett L. Downey and Lillian "Gertrude" Downey (Yoder); his brothers, Alvin Downey and Harry Downey; and his stepson Mark Arnold.
He is survived by: his former wife Evelyn Elliot; his spouse Robbie Arnold (Sneed); his daughters, Candi Downey Hect (Karl) of Carrollton and Kim Downey Delano of Carrollton, Texas; his stepdaughter Pamela Arnold Gilley of Carlsbad; his grandchildren, Kyle Ferguson (Penny) of Las Vegas, Joshua Hect of Washington, DC, Jonathan Hect of Austin, Derra Delano Purnell (David) of Houston, Dawn Arnold Green of Russellville, Terran Gilley of Carlsbad, Dusty Delano (Anna), Jennifer Delano Lee (Rex) of Carrollton and Jacob Arnold of Carlsbad; and his siblings, Russell Downey, Lester Downey of Aztec, Bess Hunton of Clovis and Jo Hughes of Texico. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
