He was predeceased by: his parents, Sarah Iola Strickland (Newsome) and Julius Strickland; his former wives, Margie Payne of Morgan, TX. and Audrey Retzer; his children, Ann Boston, Wanda Kinsley and Barry Strickland; and his siblings, Flavil Strickland, Clyde Strickland, Omar Strickland, Clay Strickland, Warren Strickland, Flo Davis and Gladys Peterson.
He is survived by: his son William "Bill" Boston (Jean) of Oceanside, CA; his wife Helen Strickland of Carlsbad, NM; his sons, Lonnie Strickland (Bobbie Sue) of Garland, TX, Dean Strickland (Denise) of Oklahoma City, OK and John Strickland of Dallas, TX; and his brother Odell Strickland (Mary) of Whitehouse, TX. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
In 1958 Calvin received a National Science Foundation Grant to study mathematics at the University of Illinois where he earned his Masters Degree in Mathematics.
