She was predeceased by: her husband Teddy L. Dempsey; and her son Joe Begaye Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Leonard Dempsey, Matilda Arviso (Carlos), LaBerta Dempsey and Leo Dempsey (Tonya); her siblings, Eddie Beyale of Kirtland, NM., Irene Cowboy (Doolie) of Gallup, Katy Battese of St. Michael's, AZ and Mary Manygoats (Phillip) of Naschitti, NM.; her grandchildren, Carlita Begaye, Dwight, Ferrari Arviso, Naiyid Bahe (Ebee), Beau Dempsey, Micah Dempsey and Morgan Murphy; and her great grandchildren, Jayden Arviso, Makayla Garcia, Gunner, Beau, Abigail Arviso, Jaicey, Emilie, Logan and Akira Begaye.
