He was predeceased by: his parents, Abrán Chavez and Rose Chavez (Ulibarrí); and his sister Marilyn Haynes. He is survived by: his significant other Patsy Atencio; his children, Randy Chavez, Nadine Maes (James) and Timothy Chavez (Andrea); his grandchildren, Carlos, Sarah Chavez, Garrett Chavez, Tyler Cobb (Lucy), Abbie Fajardo (Alejandro), Timothy and Benjamin Maes; his great grandchildren, Gabriel, Michael, Tylia Cobb and Grace Chavez; and his siblings, Caroline Goodwin, Diana Pacheco (Tony) and Kenneth Chavez (Cathi).
