He was predeceased by: his parents, Mauricio Portillo and Refugia Portillo (Quezada); his son Manolito Portillo; his grandsons, Armando Gonzales Jr and Lawrence Grijalva III; and his sister Cecilia Portillo.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret; his children, Thomas Portillo of Lawton, OK, Darlene Portillo of Bayard, Bernadette Alvillar (Jesus) of Bayard, Valerie Gomez of Bayard, Christina Apauty of Lawton, OK and Julie Mares (Chris) of Las Vegas, NV; and his siblings, Alfred Portillo (Angie) of Silver City, Ruben Portillo (Mary Ann) of Silver City, Della Baca (Jimmy) of Hurley, Lupe Cox (Bill) of Arenas Valley, Sylvia Sierra of Silver City and Mary Sepulveda of Silver City. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
