He was predeceased by: his father Thomas Henry Staats; and his daughter Cynthia Staats. He is survived by: his mother Kinue Yokota; his significant other Kathleen Staats of Silver City; his daughters, Kristine Trotter (David) of Hale Center, TX and Stephanie Guck (James) of Mimbres; and his siblings, Jimmy Staats (Nikki) of Alamosa, CO, Richard Staats (Kathy) of Richmond, VA, Joan Glein and Linda Yokota of Virginia. He is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
