He was predeceased by: his parents, Antonio Garcia and Felicitas Hinojos; and his siblings, Manuel Garcia, Luisa Ortega, Maria Santillanes and Amanda Ulate.
He is survived by: his grandson Herman Michael Garcia; his wife Carmen Garcia; his children, Herman Garcia (Mary), Tony Garcia (Bridgette), Luis Garcia, Maria Reed (Tom), Sylvia Garcia, Lori Grado (Amos) and Alice Hawkins (Cory); his siblings, Willie Garcia and Aurora Fuentes; and his sister-in-law Damas Garcia. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
