He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert W. Shepherd and Thelma I Shepherd (Antone); and his siblings-in-law, Dale S. Sanderson, Gary Keith Sanderson and Carol A. Sanderson Cole.

He is survived by: his wife Maureen M. Shepherd; his son Robert W. Shepherd; his granddaughter Madelyn K. Shepherd of Albuquerque, NM; his sisters, Lynette Duffy (Michael) of Edgerton, WI and Marlene Dawe (Robert) of Springfield, IL; and his siblings-in-law, Ruth Sanderson of Willmar, MN, Jim Sanderson (Pamela) of Boise, ID, Edwin "Nubs" Cole of Galena and Australian. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Due to current COVID-19 restrictions a celebration of life and burial will be held at a later date.
