He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Elzy Verty and Billie Walters (Martin); his wife Wanda Blair; his children, Richard Walters (Faith) of San Antonio and Mandie Walters of University Place, Washington; his stepson Dale Jones of Denton, Texas; his grandchildren, Brandon, Gracie and Avyn Walters; and his siblings, Wayne Walters (Connie), Earnie Walters of Merkel, Texas, Tommy Walters (Madelene) of Waxahachie, Texas, Ray Walters (Kellie) of San Antonio, Texas and Leta Brenem of Merkel, Texas. He was also cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
