Susan Sharon Sarah Sehi-Smith Obituary
Susan Sharon Sarah Sehi-Smith, age 65, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, born on Friday, March 15, 1957 in Chicago, passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael William Sehi and Eva M. Sehi. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Stephen Smith, and her sisters Mary, Nancy, Theresa, Patricia, and Diane, along with several nieces and nephews.
Sue was an author, a blogger, an artist, and a true renaissance woman. She was university trained and worked in the creative development of supplemental math and science materials where she wrote and spearheaded the development of over 150 products, many cross-curricular. As a creative director for 23 years, she had experience in awareness and advertising and reworking complex concepts into eureka moments for the average person. She was the President of Paws To People, a nonprofit organization that she founded and directed for ten years.
In 2005, Sue began to share the story of the White Dog Army, founded by her heart dog Siku and subsequently populated by many elderly and special needs rescue dogs. It is not possible to say how many dogs were held in her arms, how many felt her love, and came through the doors of the home she and her husband shared in the years since. Their stories were told in the White Dog Blog, whether of hardship or joy, and Sue treated each one equally. It is hard to think there will ever be another like her who gave so much, who cared so deeply. You can read every one of her thousands of blog entries at whitedogblog.blogspot.com.
Sue believed that each person has an obligation to work toward making the world a better place. A measure of her character was the effort and focus applied to making a difference. She was shaped by a drive to connect, educate, share, and challenge.
