He was predeceased by: his father Jose Ascension Plata, Sr.; his brother Armando Plata; and his niece Angelica Plata. He is survived by: his wife Martha Plata; his children, José Manuel Plata and Maria Elena Plata; his siblings, Mauro Plata (Esther), Gerardo Plata, Gabriel Plata, Javier Plata, Antonio Plata, Alfonso Plata, Maria Esther Plata and Rosario Mata (Eliazer); his grandchildren, Jose Antonio Plata, Jasmine Tiana Plata, Angela Renee Mendez, Marcos Daniel Plata, Ezekiel Chavez and Krista Guerra; and his great grandchildren, Jose Leonardo Plata, Ismael Rene Tena, Jr., Annelise Borunda, Javier Borunda and Ariella Borunda.
