He was predeceased by: his friend Felipe Herrera; his wife Bertha; his son George Herrera; his parents, Leonardo Herrera and Tomasita Herrera; and his siblings, Rosemary Parish, Flavio, Henry and Leonardo Jr..

He is survived by: his children, Evelyn (Ben Valdez), Anna (Anthony DeFusco), Phyliss Herrera, Amy (Dan Maestas) and Phillip (Valerie Herrera); and his sister Agnes Padilla. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church and/or Norbertine Abbey.
