He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Zabel and Jewell Conklin Zabel; and his brother Robert Zabel. He is survived by: his wife Frances; his children, Lesley Stern (Robert) of Auburn California, Lisa Diamond of Idaho and Dale (Connie) of Puerto Rico; his siblings, Ray Zabel (Jan) of Mesa and Michelle Shames (Sam) of Lake Placid, Florida.; and his pets, Rocky, Alicia, Oso and Alex.
